Hi I have been using the regular wired router for my Verizon FiOS internet.  I want to change to a wifi router.  My question is if I ask Verizon to do this how much will the router they provide cost.  Will it cost more or the same if I buy it from a store like Best Buy.  Thanks!! Smiley

I would suggest just buying your own router.

Currently my system is:
ONT/Internet Box --> Verizon Router --> My Wireless Router

I have turned off the wireless capabilities of the Verizon router and am purely using it as the connection to Verizon.
My personal computers are all plugged in to my wireless router.

This setup allows me to put my computers behind a personal firewall.
It allows the Verizon router to perform it's normal functions needed for Pay-per-view and On-Demand.
Also if a technician needs to remote in for assistance it only allows them access to the Verizon equipment and not my personal machines.

So my suggestion is to get your own router, because you still have to have a Verizon router to get all of the features.

you might be able to get it for free
do you have the TV service?
if so then one of the new actiontec routers can be sent to you
