Sorry for the insertion of the pictures, I'm not familiar with inserting pics on forums.  But above are the pictures of my FiOS before and after installation.  In the pre-board pic shows the board I setup in my crawl space under the house for the tech to install the BBU and also tap into my phone line.  The pre-box shows where the copper came into my house and went behind the siding to the crawlspace.  He removed the old copper drop from the pole, but left the box to hide the holes it would have made.

The post-board shows my installed BBU.  The BBU is powered by an outlet on the reverse side of the board.

Then the rest of the pictures are of my ONT.  I worked with the tech to run the wires behind my siding so they can be hidden when they dropped down to the crawl space.  You can see a closeup of the hole and the almond caulk (I supplied) to make everything as cosmetic as possible.  The Cat5e wire had to go to my router which is on the 2nd floor.  The tech gave me the Cat5e wire and greatly appreciated that I snaked and plugged the wire for him on the router end.

All in all, the install took abuot 2 1/2 - 3 hrs and everyone was happy.  Actually, I think he was more happy with the installation than I was.......

Great pictures. By the way, I resized the images to make it fit the board better.

At the risk of repeating myself from a post in another category, I am going to confirm the high level of "customer service" the Verizon installer provided on my installation too.

Two weeks after mine was installed, on the Monday after Thanksgiving, I took the day off to rake the remaining leaves out of the yard; there were 3 Verizon installations going on at the same time oin my street, in just the 8-10 house area I can see!  Most of my neighbors now have it, and those to whom I have spoken all agree that it is the best thing since sliced bread!

Man they really need to speed up availability to the rest of Long Island. I don't understand what they mean by only providing it to "rich areas", because the way I see it ANYONE using Optimum Online is a potential customer and probably capable and willing to pay for FiOS since it is comparably priced. My parents live in a very wealthy area of Islip (waterfront) but a large portion of Islip is not wealthy (non-waterfront), and Islip is not getting FiOS anytime soon. People on my parents' street are multimillionaires for Christ's sake, how rich do you have to be to qualify for FiOS.

I am happy to see that Centerreach and Stony Brook (where I live) is getting FiOS "soon" (though I don't know how soon "soon" is).

It's not really the "rich" areas that are getting first avaliability on it.  I know in Nassau County, they're in the progress of doing the Town of Hempstead (Southern Nassau for the most part) and the Town of Oyster Bay (N/E / Eastern Nassau), because they have the FiOS TV franchise agreements already in place, so they have those towns on a priority.  But they're moving along from Nassau and I assume they'll work their way out to Montauk, CO by CO.  I don't work for Verizon, so don't take my words for facts.  But a buddy of mine that does work for Verizon did tell me that they are pulling a bunch of guys from the city to start wiring Long Island (unfortunately, eliminating most of the temps).

Hmm that makes a lot of sense that Verizon would prioritize the towns where they already have TV agreements. I'm sure Cablevision/Optimum is fighting them every step of the way too. On a side note, I hope their FiOS installation people are more competent than their DSL people (though they may be the same people?). My father ordered a Verizon DSL installation at his private clinic, and the dude installed two by mistake because the person who took my dad's order recorded it as two instead of one. It took forever for my dad to finally get them to first admit that they accidentally installed two instead of one (they were charging him for two), and after my dad got fed up with Verizon and told them to cancel both lines it still took them weeks and mutlple calls from our lawyers for them to finally disconnect them. Though from what I've gathered from these forums, it looks like all the FiOS installations have gone pretty smoothly, which is reassuring.
