Hello all!!!

I got my FiOS installed today (I will post pictures later in the week).  So I have 5 computers which need to be hard-wired and two wireless.  With Optimum Online, I had 2 NetGear routers (Wired:  RP614v2 and Wireless:  WGT624v2).  I had the wireless connected to my modem and the wired router configured to extend the wireless ports.

So I got my new D-Link Wireless router (with the install) and I've tried to configure the wired router to extend the D-Link, but I'm not getting it to function.  Can anyone offer advice on how to get this working?  I've tried changing the settings to 192.168.0.2 and disabling DHCP....

Any advice would be appreciated...

Hi,

I can tell you that adding a D-link wireless extender was marginal at best. I took it back and upgraded my antenna to a 7dB antenna. It's available at most DLink retailers.  Odd thing with the extender was that my Vaio laptop didn't like it at all and wouldn't connect, even if I was a couple of feet from the FIOS wireless router.  My wife's Toshiba laptop which uses a PCMCIA WiFi card saw the extender but it barely added one bar to her signal strength. Dlink techs admit that the extenders only improve strength by about 15%.  So a better antenna is cheaper than the extender ($40 vs $80)  Down side is my Vaio still barely connects when I'm in my office.

Hope that helps.
