This question is aimed at Fios Installer. I have had both Road Runner and Verizon Online DSL and can say that Bright House provides a more stable internet connection then Verizon Online DSL ever did. Of all time I have had the cable connection I have never had a drop in connection or it slow way down to barely nothing as it did with DSL. Also when we had DSL it always somehow had static over the normal dial tone lines even with a filter on everyline including one in the main box. Verizon techs came out here about 5 to 7 different times and it always got wrose. At some points my DSL connection woudl slow down to 56k or drop out to nothing at all. But with my cable connection it has never dropped below 3MB down. Also another thing when we signed up for DSL they said we should get 3MB down and 384 or something up. But we only get 1.5MB down and 254k up. But I hardly even got 1.5MB it was always lower. Im off of Memorial HWY in Tampa and the CO isnt that far from me its only on Hillsborough Ave and Hanley Rd.

But it was funny when I started talking to the Verizon tech about the CO, he gave me a look and asked "How do you know what a CO is?" and I just told him about this web site..lol.

But all in all, will Fios be anything like my DSL experience from Verizon was? Because im crossing my fingers waiting so patiently for Verizon to run fiber down my neighborhood here in Town and Country. Btw do you have any idea or heard anything about Verizon running fiber in 33634? Thanks let me know. Oh yeah before I forget, how do I become a Verizon tech? I would like to become one as im fresh out of high school and 19 years old. Its either Bright House tech or Verizon tech, with Verizon kickin' the crap out of cable with Fios I think I know what team to go for.  Wink

That sounds most likely what it would be. I know when the Verizon tech was hooking us up they had to go back and forth between our house and the CO. They also told me that the circuit we normally would be hooked to on the pole was bad so they put us on another circuit. I also know this because they crossed the lines..lol. We had to wait 2 days to get the lines uncrossed and get our own number. Then a little longer for DSL. But thats extacly what happens the DSL modem slows down so bad the light blinks and the signal is gone. If that card you mentioned is bad and that is what it does then bingo thats what it would be, I am hoping thats all. I will give Verizon a call on Monday and asked them about it. But they said we should be getting 3MB down for my connection and area but we barely made it to 1.5MB.

Thanks for ALL the information man! I have called and talked to a few DSL and regular techs and they all say the same thing "Fios is coming". Im on the waiting list already.

I went to the Verizon Career page but it said no jobs were open for US-FL-Tampa under installation, repair, and maintance work.

Oh man, I plugged my DSL modem in just to test it out and I couldnt stay online for more then 5 minutes without the 'blinky' light coming on. So I plugged my cable modem back in. Im going to call Verizon and talk to them about it but what do you suggest I tell them the issue is so they can fix it right instead of just writting this ticket off like the other 7 guys did. Thanks. 1.5MB/384K isnt bad for what I do and cheap also $29.95 a month, cant beat it. Alot better then compared to $44.95 for poor service. Smiley
