Hi All,
I live in Sachse,Tx and FiosTV is going to in my area at the beginning of next month. I would really like to get it but I have reservation about the Motorola HD DVR they use. I noticed the Fios DVR can only record 85hrs of std def programming which means it will only record about 8 to 10 hrs. of HD programming. If that is true I find that as a major problem. Right now on my HDTivo I can record 200hrs of std def programming and 30hrs of HD. There are a couple of days in the week where I record 3 and 4hrs of HD progams on each day with my season pass. Is there a higher capacity DVR coming out? Or are we stuck with the 85hr one. Also I really like this IPTV hardware. I work for Alcatel and were doing the SBC Lightspeed project (similar to Fios) and the demos we get to see are just great with all the stuff that it can do that. It's leap and bounds ahead of what sat and cable can offer.

You posted this several weeks ago so your question has probably already been answered by someone more knowledgeable than me. However, I just ordered Fios Tv with 2 HD PVR's which I was told were Tivo units with dual recording capabilities. From what it sounds like, you get the Motorola PVR's with the basic service but get the Tivo PVR's with the HD package. Its about 30.00 extra dollars a month though.

They only offer one PVR, the Motorola 6416, with dual tuners and a 160gb hard drive. They don't offer Tivo.

Yes -- no Tivo option at all with Fios TV, unless you bring your own and use the IR blaster to control the Fios STB.
Verizon needs to strike a deal with Tivo and start distributing the Series 3 Tivos as the DVR as soon as Tivo releases them this year.

Or, better yet, strike a deal with Moxi.! FiOS has GOT to do something about their interface. That's the only downside to FiOS, as far as I'm concerned. I wish there was someone here, that reads these Forums, that really knows some true inside info. I can't believe that Verizon isn't considering Moxi.
Does anyone know if they are truly working on the Interface or the software portion?

Agreed. The Fios DVR does not compare to Tivo as far a useabilty is concerned. Nearly all the same functionality is there, but it is tedious and frustrating to use. No left-click to get to the previous menu, and no up-click to get from the top of a menu to the bottom for example. These seem like small issues, but when you're used to Tivo, it'll drive you nuts. I've never used Moxi, but I hear good things.

nolebrink, if you're curious about Moxi, click here and watch the demo. I think you'll be impressed.

I have had tivo for about as long as it has been around and i love it.But I am trying the fios tv out for free and am having trouble with simple things like fast forwarding i am always falling asleep watching tv and to go back to were you left off or fell asleep in my case it is more agrevaiting than it is worth i have found my self going back to my tivo directv to watch the end of a show because to fastforword on the fios box seems to be almost impossible plus it is missing so many other great fetures that tivo has any info on this or inprovments to the programing whould be great
