I have an ActionTec FIOS router, MI424WR with the latest firmware (4.0.16.1.56.0.10.7).
The router keeps hanging up, but this seems to happen mainly when larger files/data are being uploaded or downloaded. It works again if we turn it off and back on, and it may not crash again despite the same level of use. Turning off the wireless feature doesn't seem to make a difference. The TV option is not hooked up or turned on. There are separate Netgear switches hooked up to the network, but changing them (and they appear to work fine) doesn't make a difference. Also, when the router crashes, I cannot access its own home page on the browser. I put a good surge suppressor in front of it to block power surges - still crashes. Even when the router crashes like this, the computers on the network that go through the router can still communicate with each other.

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
David

i'll probably sound dumb
but have you tried resseting it?
most obvious thing to do
try it out
after that, if it does not work, call the fsc to replace it
all routers are free now if they are defective
