Okay, so, I just moved into my first apartment and I am getting Verizon FiOS, however, the previous tenant worked for Verizon and had all the FiOS equipment installed. He left the FiOS equipment when he moved and it is only for my apartment. I'm scheduled for a Tech to come to my home this Friday for an "installation" but really there is no installation needing to be done. I tried calling Verizon several times to answer this question, but I cannot seem to get through to a person and I can't find this kind of information on their website. I just want to know if they will just "activate" the current equipment (which was installed about a year ago). Any help would be greatly appreciated.

well i recommend keeping the appointment
the verizon tech will be providing a new router
and might even replace the fiber terminal depending on what model it is
also if there is any cabling issues in the apartment he will deal with them as well (bad connectors, bad jacks, bad splitters..etc)
that's just me telling you to stay on the safe side
if you really really really don't want the new router and want to run your own cabling
you can contact the fiber solutions center 1 888 553 1555
i probably sound like the robot lady on the phone
but i'm just trying to help you
the fiber solutions center can cancel the dispatch and complete the circuit  Cheesy

I don't know what state you are from but in NJ a tech must be dispatched out to activate a new service always. The stb's are not supposed to be left at the apartment and the new tenant will be getting new boxes. Also the dt will not work until a tech activates it.
