I cannot believe that Verizon cannot supply customers with out of warranty Actiontec router.  I was told there is no way to get and or/buy a replacement. I was told to go to a store and buy a new one.  I wasn't even looking for a free one, they told me mine was bad and I need to get a new one.  When I asked how much I was told mine is out of warranty.  I said fine and asked again, how much for a new one and I was told I could only get one if I also had FiOS TV.  WHAT?  That is not even an option in my town yet, (I was fighting for it, now I'll fight against it).

I know they are trying to get FiOS TV in town but I'll be sending my selectmen and cable commission a letter asking for them to read my issue aloud detailing my problems at their next meeting.  I want it read into record the lack of support once they hook you.

I知 also thinking of sending a copy of my support issue to their competitor, Charter Cable.  I was a customer of theirs before I got FiOS and they ALWAYS stood behind their equipment, even replacing it years into service.  They never told me I need to go out and buy hardware when it failed.

I知 very disappointed in Verizon; I cannot believe they tell customers they need to go to Best Buy to get a replacement.  When I see their solicitors on the street I値l let my neighbors know this is how Verizon will support them.

Again, I never asked for a free one, all I wanted was a price to replace my defective one.  I was the first FiOS customer in my town and I really think this is a case of the support rep not even listening to my question.  I'm not debating the price being cheaper elsewhere, I know it will be.  I have a saved configuration file and it would be much easier to get a replacement for what I have.  Since there are no retail outlets here that sell Actiontec I'm SOL.
Like I told the rep, I pay $105 per month for FiOS, phone and internet security package.  This is more than the current Charter package.  Verizon is being penny-wise and pound foolish about this.  What could their cost for the router be, $25.00?  They will let customers go over this?  Business must be booming!

Now... where is that bundle offer from Charter that came in the mail the other day...

my best recomendation:
if you dont a contract then:
1. Cancel you INTERNET service
2. Call 1 day after service has been disconnected and do a new connection
3. DONT mention you have a router.
4. You will get a new router with 1yr guarantee with activation chrge of 29.99 Cheesy
good luck!
