Hi All. I'm new to FiOS but not necessarily new to networking etc. So let me humble myself because I'm no guru!
I've scanned the forums but have not come up with a solution that works. To put it simply: I want to use one or more of my static IP's available. Currently, I can only get the Actiontec router to use one of my 5 static IP's and that's it. Allow me to explain my setup...
CAT5 from ONT to WAN Port On Actiontec MI424-WR router running firmware 4.0.16.1.45.160.27. --LAN Port 1 to Netgear Switch Port 8 --LAN Port 2 to Windows 2000 PC
Netgear switch --LAN Port 8 to Actiontec Port 1 --LAN Port 4 to Linux Desktop --LAN Port 1 to Linksys WRT54G Internet/WAN Port
Linksys WRT54G running firmware 2.04.4 --Internet/WAN Port to Netgear switch Port 1 --LAN Port 1 to Windows XP Laptop
Lets pretend Verizon gave me the following information: IP Range: 1.1.1.12 - 1.1.1.16 Subnet: 255.255.255.0 Gateway: 1.1.1.1 DNS 12.12.12.9 & 14.14.14.3
I've tried multiple combinations w/o any success, including switching the WRT54G from Gateway to Router and back. I can only get 1 real static IP (1.1.1.12) online which is the Actiontec. No other machine on the network, no matter where its connected can access the Internet unless its DHCP: -Actiontec to ONT, -Netgear to Actiontec, -Linksys to Netgear to Actiontec; -Netgear to Linksys to ONT; -Linksys to ONT, -ONT to Netgear switch (auto sensing upload)
Am I just being stupid? Have I over complicated the situation because I'm confused/lost now? Can someone shed any additional light?
Any and all criticism, constructive or otherwise, appreciated.
