New Box Does Not Work?!?!

Hi, this is my first post in this forum and hopefully someone can help me. I have verizon fios internet, phone and tv. I hav ea standard box and an HD DVR. I recently purchased another HD DVR from ebay. The unit brand new. I hooked it up and thought it would be like my old cable service and just work after about 10 minutes or so. This was not the case. The display came on, I saw some funky numbers and lettering going across the display. After about 2 hours (i left and came back) the ony thing on the display was the little yellow dot nes to the word "on". Noting on the tv, no picture. What do I have to do to get this thing to work? BTW the box is a Motorola QIP6416 HD DVR. Any help is greatly apreciated.

You have to call Encore Sales department via the Fiber Solution Center (FSC) [Tech Support Line] and have the box added to your account so it can recieve programming it has to be initialized and activated in our systems before it will function with our service.

Why did you buy a set top box.  Chances are, you still are going to have to pay the monthly fee for the additional TV.
