I have had dishnetwork since about a year after the mini dish came out. I have upgraded over the years and have been using their dual tuner hd reciever for many years now and it has progressed over the years and does pretty much everything I want. To switch to Fios Tv (I have fios internet in ft. wayne indiana since it was introduced and love it) there are a few things that I wanted to find out about the receiver and channels. I tried the local verizon store and they were clueless.
1) With Verizon Fios, can I obtain the Superstations Package. These are the last remaining channels that are still classified as a Superstation. In particular KTLA (LA) which is a WB/CW station. I have had this station for a long time and enjoy its news and local programming. In the past, it was the only way to get WB as Ft. wayne did not have a WB station over the air so that is why I got it. The other channels in the Dish superstation pack are KWGN (denver) WPIX (new york) BSBK (boston) WWOR (New York)
2) Does versizon use different hardware for the recievers in different areas of the country, or is there a standard High def reciever that would be equivelent to the the Dish 942 or Vip622 ?
3) does the verizon hardware offer a skip forward 30 seconds (commercial skip) and a back skip (10 seconds) ?
4) does the verizon reciever have a over the air tuner to pick up over the air digital channels or is verizon including the digital version of the local channels? This nice on dish as it had 3 tuners in it and you can record from all 3 and then play back a recorded program on tuner 1 and a different program on tuner 3.
5) Do to being on a slab and the position of the tv room in relation to where my dish and also fios is installed, I have only 1 high quality cable rg-6u going to my dish reciever. I have their signal combiner to combine 2 seperate cable signals into one and then undone and pluged into the dual tuner reciever. From there, I take the modulated coax output to power the upstairs tv's The upstairs tvs use the uhf remote. This has worked for our viewing habbits and it allows me to get away with not having a reciever on each tv upstairs and get the benefit of a dvr on each tv. Can I do something like this with Verizon hardware ?
