I got my installation this past Sunday. Nice guy from Verizon was here about 9AM or so and looked around to see what the setup was. Gave me a few options of where to put the equipment, etc. He then realized they never dropped the cable for him. He called in for some help. Surprisingly, he wasn't interested in the phone lines at all. I had upgraded the phone lines myself to all Cat5e cable about a year ago and ran Cat6 cables in the walls to the kids computers and my wife. I told him I read this whole big shpeel on the web page about them upgrading the phone lines, etc. and I moved everything out of the way so he could check the phone runs, but he said Verizon wasn't didn't care about the phone lines inside, just the hookup outside. Anyway, he started setting up the equipment and picked out a spot to drill through for the line to come in. About 5 minutes later, he came running in from outside and asked where the water shutoff was because he hit something and water was coming through where he had just drilled. I know he checked before he drilled for clearance. What happened is there was an elbow that you could hardly see that brought a line up to the second floor for the heat. One inch either way and he would have missed it but he didn't. He called his foreman to tell him. So the foreman told him to tell me to call a plumber and Verizon would reimburse me. So now, I call the plumber and he spent about a good two to three hours because of where the hole was. He had to open a hole in the wall upstairs to take the section of pipe out to repair it and then send it back down the wall, etc. etc. When I was talking to the Verizon guy originally, he told me that Verizon was going nuts as the cost of installations were costing them way over what they originally expected. Well after that plumbing bill, my installation was going to cost them over double the cost. Anyway, the plumber walked out with college fund money for his kid, The Verizon guy had to run his own cable drop before his help arrived, and finished his installation. Everything is working fine, TV is great.., the internet is much faster than cablevision (and I had Optimum Boost which should be named Optimum Bust). Hopefully the check will arrive before the credit card bill for the plumber. The only thing that I have had a hard time with is setting up the email accounts and getting use to yahoo and the new tv channels. (I've had cablevision for over 10 years) If it wasnt for the waterfall it would have been a perfect install, though.
