FIOS In Waltham, MA

Hi - I'm new to the site but found it when I was researching a replacement for RCN at my house. I heard about FIOS quite some time ago and kept checking their site for availability at my house, each time I checked it I would get the same response that it wasn't available. I finally decided to call and they told me that it is available (Phone and Internet only, no TV as of yet) and I immediately placed an order for it. I'm happy to say (well sort of) that it was installed on Friday morning as planned. The installation itself was pretty painful as the technician told me (as it says on their website) that it would take about 4 hours to install and was still there 9 hours later. Don't even ask me what the heck took so long, it seemed like he was really taking his  wasting my time.

Not withstanding the installation duration - I'm very happy to report that when I connected everything up to my network I was able to get a speed test from Speakeasy.net that showed a little over 20Mb  Sec download and a little over 2Mb  Sec upload. I was a little disappointed with the upload speed seeing that they claim it is supposed to be 20  5.

Please add Waltham, MA to your list of cities that FIOS is available in for Internet  Phone. They don't have any clue when TV will be available due to my town not giving them the go ahead as of yet. You can bet that when they do offer it I will be singing up as soon as possible. I've seen their Hi-Definition and it is spectacular!

The moral of the story - when in doubt call and check, it certainly can not hurt.
