How much longer does it take for them to do underground cable vs ariel. The side of the street directly across (odd number side of street) has pole to house and can get fios according to fios website and my side of the street the even number side can not and we have underground.

how much longer does it take for underground. I am on copper till the spring thaw?? I live in a suburb of buffalo.

Depending on the weather it shouldn't take more than a week.  You will probably have it available before the end of next week.

Well, that is not true, if you have buried service then they would have to pull all of the lines underground. You should have or will see contractors in the area and even in the front of your house digging. If you havnt seen any of this yet then you wont be able to get it for a while. These contractors sometimes are just rediculous on the stuff they do and dig up. Smiley trust me I know. After some of the calls I get about what these contractors have done to someones front yard it makes me cringe. But if they have not yet dug up your front yard to lay the fiber then odds are you wont be getting service for a while

    Thanks

Thanks for the heads up and interestingly enough, today there was a team of 3 guys putting white marker flags down front lawns on the street. I talked the them a minute and they said they are contracting for verizon, so I'm hoping that means they will be pulling underground fiber soon.

Update March 13th, 2007-- Time Warner Cable was out today marking off their thier lines with little orange flags that say Buried CATV. The guy putting them out said verizon requested the flags as they want to pull a volume of cable down the front lawns of my street. He did not say fios directly but looks good.

Update 2 March 14th, 2007-- Water authority and gas company were both out this morning setting up those little flags.  The guy from New York State Electic and Gas said the line marking order claims digging starts tommorrow through a contractor. YEA!!
