VERIZON OFFERS FIBER-OPTIC TESTS IN INDIANA

The Journal Gazette reported today 11/15/05 that Web surfers will have a chance to test Verizon's high-speed Internet service beginning today.

Verizon will hold demonstrations of the fiber-optic service called FIOS at 8001 W. Jefferson Blvd. for the next two weeks. Thirty people will be able to participate in each of the half-hour sessions.

Demonstrations will be held every half-hour from 5:30 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. today and Thursday. Demonstrations are also scheduled to start at 5:30 p.m. November 22 and November 29. The public also can test the technology from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Friday and from 10a.m. until 12:30 p.m. Saturday.

Verizon is installing a $65 million fiber-optic network in Fort Wayne and New Haven. The network already is providing telephone and Internet service to about 200 local customers, spokeswoman Jane Howard said.

Consumers can call Verizion at 260-428-6519 to register for a demonstration.

oh piss on the test. lol I received a email from them Friday morning saying the service is up and running in my area now. George Town, East State and Landing road, 46774 zip code area. So I called  them up and they will be coming out November 28th at 8:00AM. They buried the fiber optic wire from the main to my house last month. So this is what I been waiting for.
