Just closed escrow... it is a new house, with Cat 5e running to 9 locations in the house, and Coax to 9 locations as well.  Inside my communications panel on my exterior garage wall, I have 9 Cat 5e cables running into the box and 9 Coax cables running into the same box.  I have an outlet installed in the box as well.

What do I need to get to make my system ready for FIOS?  We have TV, DATA, and Voice available.  Can the Cat 5e cables run both voice and data or do I have to use them as dedicated data lines only, and use verisons VoIP?  I was looking at the structured wiring panels by levition... is that the route I need to go?

Thanks,

Jeff

The Cat5 can run both voice and data, but you should look into QoS equipment to better service the sharing of the lines. I suppose if you have enough extra lines to run them separate, that would be fine instead. The major complaint of running VoIP services is that either the data transfer or voice quality becomes lower than expected when both are within use. I suppose it also depends on what voice service you will be usings and/or if it comes with equipment that can manage it properly.

As far as your setup, you of course should be making sure you have a place set to service any inputs that may come in, such as the data cable or media cables from the FiOS ONT. You should also make sure that you can make these inputs scalable to make sure you have the ability to add into it as time goes on.

I suppose that any other concerns should be addressed based on what your actual needs or goals of the set-up is.

Depending on the state you live in, The way we have it set up now, you can get a new bundle on a contract for very cheap. We don't currently offer the $150 back but we CAN waive all fees for the set-up, we CAN provide a DVR for free for new customers. The best bundle we have right now, with ALL channels, 35\35 Internet speeds, and Phone with 30+ features is $139.99 + additional costs and taxes. Each package below that is $15 cheaper per month. Without a contract each package is $20 more than the base price I have just quoted. If you were looking for NO contract bundles, Currently I do have a promotion to new customers for the first year for signing up you will get the exact same price for no contract as you do for a contract period. If you sign a contract, you qualify for $20 or $30 off the base price, depending on your area. Im always happy to provide all the info you need, so if you have any questions you can leave me a message at any time at (909) 784-5387 my name is Austin; and that is my secondary line and I check the voicemail quite often.
