Former Adelphia/Comcast customer:
Fios pros: -Better quality picture by a large degree in my opinion. I have yet to notice a degredation on any channel like I used to see with cable. -No pixelation during inclement weather like dish service. -3-way price packaging is equal to Comcast offers in the D.C. metro area. -More channels offered with their standard premium package if you use STB (see below). -Install tech. upgrades all coax connections with new style crimp-ons (at least they're supposed to as part of the deal).
Fios cons: -Coax only connection to TV without STB= alot less available channels. Went from around 40 with Adelphia to around 12 with Verizon and half of those are local programming that nobody watches. You basically get PBS, NBC, ABC, CBS, FOX and a local weather 24/7 forcast. No ESPN, TBS, TLC, TWC and the like without a STB. If you have alot of tv's it will add cost to service plan unless the extra tv's don't need the extra channels. -Price plans don't seem to include a real basic package that would suffice what cable provided over plain, no STB coax. Almost force you to add a STB onto every tv for reasons noted above. -No local B&M presence to drop off and/or exchange malfunctioning equipment.
