I just had my FiOS TV installed yesterday(I've been a FiOS Internet subscriber for a year) and I am very pleased with the service so far. I wonder if any other subscribers can help me with...the remote control. At the risk of sounding stupid, how can you access page up/page down functions from the Phillips remote? Most of the documentation and help on the tv/website is for a different remote (which already has separate page up/down buttons) and what documentation there is makes no mention of the feature. I even went so far as to call FiOS tech support, and to my surprise they had no idea how to do it. I *know* the function must exist--they can't expect people to hit the down cursor arrow key 300 times to go through the program guide! Can someone here help a clueless FiOS TV newbie figure this out? I love what I've seen of FiOs so far but this remote is truly horrible. Basic functions should not be opaque to the user!

Thanks,

Hey guys, I am actually a fiber customer support analyst for FiOS, and to answer your questions about page up page down... they are on the new philips remotes but do not currently work with the program guide aka (IPG). The new Mercury IPG will be out shortly. It is in testing stages only in NJ right now. This is by far the best guide I have ever seen. It is very interactive for you people out there who know how to use a remote.... haha, youd be suprised the calls we get w/ people who cant even use a remote. Wait for the new Mercury IPG to come out and the page up/down functions will work for you

Thanks

Hey Josh, and Everyone,
Its been awhile since your post re: the Mercury IPG!  Its taking its time coming out - any news?  I sure would like an update, as likely everyone - what's going on? where's it at??
I'm gonna get me a Mercury and cruise on along down the road (like the Steve Miller song).

Anyway, I'd like to put this issue onto this web forum's front burner.  Its the hottest subject for me.

For those not aware, I called Verizon's tech support because I couldn't set reminders for programs that I wanted to watch ahead of time.  Yes, you're hearing me correctly!
Tech support said this function isn't available on the dual-tuner DVR STB (though is on the low end STBs)!!!!!
Is that rediculous, or what?

The guy suggested the new Mercury IPG might, HOPEFULLY, resolve this issue.  Josh, PLEASE tell us the IPG being Beta-tested will enable the high-end STBs for Users to set reminders in advance for programs they want to watch!!

I don't have answers to your question but you get a preview of the new FiosTV IMG 2.0. The audio on the website seems to no longer work for some reason but you can still watch the video.

Hey Kaos,
Thanks forthe reply.  I looked at  the IMG link.  The only thing I could see that MIGHT be the Program "REMINDERS" function MIGHT be what I saw as called "Bookmark."  Of course this is pretty nebulous what the "Bookmark" is/would be - and also its not clear whether or not this function will be available on the high-end DVR STBs with dual tuners.

Wish someone could give a definitive answer that VZ is working this in.   It seems they sure should be since its such a basic necessity - but then you'ld also expect they'd have it currently, right?

Hello,
I see alot of folks reading this post but no replys??

Maybe folks are not realizing what NOT having "Remind Me" function means:  When you go thru the on-screen TV Guide - you have to write down on a piece of paper -  all of the shows - at each of their time's - for all shows that you might want to tune in to watch for the next maybe 2 hours!  For me this list is maybe 15 entries - and I have to do this about 3 times per day!!  (since you can only see 1 1/2 hour of programming using the Guide.)

I thought this would bring complete outrage! - but nobody's Posting on this?

FYI, I checked with several customer service reps - I'm told they don't see the need given customers have a DVR - and that even the new IMG does NOT have this for the high-end HD-DVRs!!!   Its up to us customers to SPEAK UP and tell them our needs!

    Well OK, I will reply.

I see absolutely no need for a "remind me" function. I have had FiOS TV for almost 2 years, have one DVR and two SD STBs, never had any interest in being reminded of anything. I simply look at the Guide to see what I want to watch, and watch it - not very difficult. 1 1/2 hours is perfectly adequate for me. And if there are a couple of things on I want to watch at the same time, I record one or two. What is so hard about that?

I guess I don't understand what you think you need. You want to watch 15 different programs in 2 hours? Good God, that is absurd! And do that 3 times a day? Even more absurd.

All of the above IMHO of course.

What I want is more HD channels, and HD VOD. Haven't seen anybody identify anything else I really care about.
