When will fios in philadelphia come? I don't understand as to why it's available to most of the surrounding suburbs but not to the city.

thanks.

I work for Verizon out of Trevose.  It was stated that FiOS for consumer use will not take place till either 2009 or 2010.  FiOS is already available in Center City/South Philadelphia, but for major businesses only.  The reason for FiOS not being available for the consumer, is because it has not been apporved for better competition in the Philadelphia area.  Verizon is still going to court over the matter, so that fiber can be layed out.

HokyPlayr10,
From what I understand, city council is holding things up.  They are suppose to vote on it again in January.  I'm sure if they try to stop Verizon after that, Verizon will go to court.  Comcast needs to understand that Verizon will not give up the way RCN did back in 2000.
