I was leaving home for school yesterday and I noticed a loop of a wire that I don't think has been there before. So when i got home off the school bus I looked closer and saw that it was a loop of black wire hanging on the pole and there was like some sort of orange something. I got some pics:
(look higher up on this one and you will see the orange I was talking about)

Ok, I get home today and see this:
ok, is that from verizon? If so what is it? are they going to burry the fiber? I thought it was going up on poles...

They usually "mole" it underground and what you have there is the conduit that the fiber will be pulled thru. So first to go in the ground is that orange conduit. Then the much smaller fiber cable is pulled thru that. This way there is a whole lot less torn up when they come down your street. All they need are small holes for the splicing and a larger hole for the boring machine and drill entrance. They'll bore it right under your sidewalks and drivways with out much disturbance.
