I have been a long time Verizon user both for cell and home phone service and have been extremely satisfied with all the various levels of service I have received.  About 5 to 6 months ago, I received my first solicitation by phone for fios service.  My work provides me with free internet (wireless DSL) and so I explained this and asked that I be removed from their call list.  They told me that it may take up to 30 days, but I would be removed from the list.

My neighbor also received a call and they signed up for the service.  Shortly after, they came out, marked the sidewalk areas for where the line would be placed and then put in the cable (the red paint is still on my walkway alongside my home).  The morning after they had the cable installed, I was in the front yard working when the neighbor’s sprinkler system came on—but the sprinklers did not pop up, but rather the yard had water running down to the street from several places.  Verizon had cut through a variety of irrigation and water lines including a line that fed their spa.  It took some phone calls and a couple of weeks, but Verizon paid for a sprinkler installer to come out and fix everything.  Meanwhile the service does work well for them.  I guess I am just suggesting that if you have them install the line to your home, be sure to watch that they don’t cut up your irrigation system and that they remove the markings on your walkways afterwards.

Getting back to my story--Last night I received my 5th solicitation by phone.  Each time I have asked to be removed and was told that I would be removed.  I am quite fed up with this at this point.  I have pleaded with them repeatedly.  Other than filing a complaint with the FTC or someone, does anyone have a suggestion about how to get them to stop calling me?   Huh Huh

Just for the record:

I recieved an automated call today for fios, telling me to call 888 438 3467 or... to get on the NO CALL LIST--1 309 820 7777.  Since I have already requested being on the no call list--I have no desire to call a long distance number at my expense and try still again to get on the list!!

Does anyone out there have any ideas about how to REALLY get off their list?HuhHuhHuh Huh

I just got off the phone with Joella at 309 820 7777.  She told me AGAIN that it will take up to 30 days to get off the Verizon FIOS phone call list.  She also had no record of that being requested before.  I feel like I am in the movie Groundhog Day.  Is there anyone who can help with this??? Sad Huh Embarrassed Cry

Honestly, why would you not want FiOS?

I find it interesting that the 5 other replies to this have thread been deleted.  As to why I would not want FIOS--I am provided free satellite DSL by the company I work for--Why should I be hassled by FIOS?  To their credit--after receiving all those solicitations, once I complained twice here on this board, they stopped.  Probably has nothing to do with.  But at one time this thread had over 600 times it had been viewed.  Where did they go?

Re: lost replies. My guess would be that the system crash they had some time back, where they had to restore to a quite old backup, is the reason that some of the replies were lost. I know that I have put a number of responses in to several threads, and they all got lost. I certainly hope they are taking better backups now Grin

Your comments on this board may very well have been the trigger that helped stop the calls. When I first found this board, I passed along to a friend of mine who works for Verizon (not in FiOS), and she passed it along to the FiOS support group. The response that came back, which she passed along to me, was that the FiOS support group was not aware of this board, but they would monitor it from then on. This was several months ago.

Unfortunately this board seems to have very low traffic, and I don't understand why. There are some knowledgeable people here, willing I think to help, but there are very few questions asked these days. I suspect the lost stuff I metioned earlier may account for some lost traffic, but still, this is a good resource that could be even better with more traffic.

There is a Gizmo at Radio shack  "dont know mthe name", that swends out a  disconnnect signalk on EACH call, so if you dont  mind, thiswil lead them to believe  the line is disconnected.'''

    BTW
I am on Sunrcket and there you can blcok INDIVIDUAL nujmbers  as well as the suueual Ananymous rivate nuers.

yeah, i agree.. i got the same kind of call for fios tv, and its annoying (late evening) so I called to have my number taken off.
isn't it enough I get the flyer every 2-3 days?!?
i'll be the one to decide when to move over from directv to fios-tv, not them, me.
besides, they are not a whole lot cheaper than satellite providers or cable yet, and making the service $34.95 doesn't help when you want 2 dvr boxes at a cost of $12.95 each per month. so, its still not cost effective when satellite gives these boxes away virtually FREE or low cost, and you OWN the equipment. they need deals that compete with both satellite, not just cable-tv. those service/rental fees are killing the upfront cheap prices.

FYI, here is the number you need to call. I ran into people asking this same question, so I got this information.

    Call 890-7100

This number should work in any area code and I was told it was a toll free number. When you get into this line, you want to say "I want to stop receiving Verizon telephone solicitations" and that should do it for ya. Of course this only applies if you have a current Verizon service, whether its phone or DSL.
